Readers of this column will recall the Rooftop Film program I plugged in my June 20, 2010 article. Not to be outdone JCC of Manhattan is offering its own rooftop film and music series every Thursday in July at 8:00 PM, beginning tomorrow, July 1, 2010 with Mama Mia! The Sing-along. Sing along to the hits of ABBA in the big screen version of the stage musical hit. A daughter on a quest to find the identity of her father, a mother learning to let go, three mystery men from the past...but who cares...we’re here to sing ABBA! $8 members/$10 non-members. The JCC of Manhattan is located on Amsterdam Ave at 76 Street.

Other films and concerts in the series include:

Yoohoo, Mrs. Goldberg
Directed by Aviva Kempner (92 min, USA, 2009)
From Aviva Kempner, maker of The Life and Times of Hank Greenberg, comes this humorous and eye-opening story of television pioneer Gertrude Berg. She was the creator, principal writer, and star of The Goldbergs, a popular radio show for 17 years, which became television’s very first character-driven domestic sitcom in 1949. She paved the way for women in the entertainment industry, but was controversially blacklisted in her prime.
Director Aviva Kempner will introduce the screening, and be available for a Q&A afterward.
In the event of rain, screening will take place in L2 auditorium .
Thu, Jul 8, 8:00 PM - 10:00 PM, $8.00 member/$10.00 nonmember

Golem in Concert Thu, Jul 15 8pm
This Eastern European folk, punk band will rock the rooftop with their contemporary mix of gypsy and klezmer sounds. The New Yorker calls Golem "Stellar! A wild edgy approach with a reverance for Old World tradition."

A Serious Man
Directed by Ethan & Joel Coen (105 min, USA, 2009)
Join us for a special screening of the one of the best movies of the year! Academy Award winners Ethan and Joel Coen create a Gob-ian masterpiece about Jewish life in a 1960's suburb. A family man’s quest for meaning in an absurd world.
In the event of rain, screening will take place in L2 auditorium .
Thu, Jul 22, 8:00 PM - 10:00 PM, $8.00 member/$10.00 nonmember

Pharaoh’s Daughter Concert Thu, Jul 29 8pm
Don’t miss the closing night of our rooftop series with this super popular band that mixes Middle Eastern, Hassidic and indie pop sounds led by Basya Schechter.
