A screening of the top-rated documentary on controversial artist Tomi Ungerer will be shown in conjunction with an exhibit of his erotic drawings, which will be displayed at the World Erotic Art Museum in South Beach.

The three-month exhibit, which opens Sunday, June 1, will display 60 of Ungerer's original erotic prints. The opening reception will also feature a showing of the acclaimed documentary "Far Out Isn't Far Enough: The Tomi Ungerer Story."

Museum Owner Naomi Wilzig is showcasing Ungerer because of the imagination and creativity he used to create the drawings on display, which portray men and women using mechanical devices in order to satisfy themselves sexually. "They are outlandish and unbelievably creative and show the lengths that people might go to in order to do this," said Wilzig, who is an erotic art expert.

Ungerer produced 140 books, many of them children's classics, is was the recipient of the Hans Christian Anderson Award, which is the highest honor possible for a children's book illustrator. But over his career he also used his art to express his political beliefs, which included protesting the Vietnam War, his opposition to animal cruelty, and his celebration of the sensual.

The opening of the exhibit will feature a reception and the showing of the documentary, which was produced by Miami's Brad Bernstein. The film was shown at the Miami International Film Festival, as well as other film festivals, and garnered a three-star rating in the Miami Herald, as well as an overall 91 percent critical ranking in "Rotten Tomatoes." The audience approval ranking was even higher.

The reception will begin at 6 p.m. and the movie will be shown at 7. The $15 admission to the reception also includes access to the Wilzig's world-famous 20-room collection of erotic art, which critics have hailed as one of the best private museums in America.
