Dreams are windows to the mind. They reveal a person’s deepest fears and desires. When the Matrix Trilogy hit the world, the concept of a reality buried deep within humanity’s layers of collective unconscious was very novel. The success enjoyed by the franchise was phenomenal. As a result, in 2003, many people doubted that any new movie would ever be able to push boundaries in such an effective way again. And then, “Inception” came…
“Inception” is two and a half hours of mind-unraveling entertainment. This film is the total package. I absolutely recommend it. A complex and twisted story line, an excellent cast – Leonardo DiCaprio, in particular, delivers a tour-de-force performance – and Hans Zimmerman’s musical genius create a universe that will leave you wanting for more.
Despite some violence and bloodshed (which makes the movie PG-13), this is a very deep film that forces viewers to question the validity of their fears. Are they real or not? You will feel as though your own mind were being probed for answers. It is an uncomfortable yet incredible experience. You are invited to pay attention to your dreams and reconsider your life. For once, I am glad that a Hollywood film is a box-office smash hit.
“Inception,” a movie directed by Christopher Nolan. Cast: Leonardo DiCaprio, Ken Watanabe, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Ellen Page, Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Tom Berenger, Michael Caine, Lukas Haas.
Watch “Inception” in theaters in Winnipeg: Garden City, Kildonan Place, SilverCity St. Vital and Polo Park, Globe Cinema, and Empire Grant Park 8 Cinemas. For more information, visit the following page.
