Johnny Knoxville is back with a hysterical new movie called 'Bad Grandpa' out in theaters nationwide today. Knoxville, of MTV's 'Jackass' fame, plays 86 year old Irving Zisman and with full latex makeup looks like an 86 year old. His sidekick in this movie is 8 year old Jackson Nicoll who plays the role of Zisman's grandson Billy who turned out to be funnier than Knoxville. The crowd in the theater's pre-screening were hysterical with laughter throughout the 1 1/2 hour movie.
As with the television series and the three prior Jackass movies, it was a collaboration between Knoxville, Bam Margera, Spike Jonze, and Jeff Tremaine. The group continue to put the unsuspecting public in convoluted situations and are not told they are part of a movie until the skit has run its course, going where Candid Camera would never have gone. To those that are a bit uptight may not enjoy the movie as it was intended, fortunately for Knoxville and Nicoll America is ready to laugh and will be breaking the box office this weekend, upending 'Gravity'.
Unlike other Jackass offerings, 'Bad Grandpa' actually has a somewhat plausible storyline which is going to be a hit with both Knoxville loyalists and new comers to the party. Through a matter of circumstance, Irving is forced to take his grandson Billy across the country to North Carolina via a classic 1970s Lincoln where Irving is constantly trying to score sex with women. Irving unloads his elderly wisdom to impressionable Billy encountering male strippers, disgruntled child beauty pageant contestants, funeral home mourners, biker bar patrons, food vendors and many other unsuspecting citizens. And in case you are watching the movie thinking the scenes were staged, then stay to the end of the movie where the producers show behind the scenes footage revealing to the people in the scenes that they are now in a hidden camera movie production. You will notice throughout the movie, some people's faces are blurred out as the producers were not able to get signed releases from them.
