The love between Ethan and Lena has trickled down in Gatlin, South Carolina's history. Lena's aunt Genevieve had fallen for mortal Ethan Carter and cast a forbidden spell to bring him back to life after he was shot in the Civil War. The spell caused Genevieve to become evil and cursed the women of Duchannes blood line.

Lena's guardian Uncle Macon Ravenwood, who fell in love with Ethan's mother Lila Evers, guides Lena towards good magic rather than evil. Macon ended his relationship with Lila as he turned into an incubus that would eventually kill her. Macon makes the ultimate sacrifice to save Lena's future. Lila saves Macon and returns him to being a mortal.

The evil influences from Lena's mother and cousin provide a strong battle for Lena's future.

Beautiful Creatures is a contender to Breaking Dawn. The fantasy storyline of Creatures is more developed and involved. The cinematography by Phillippe Rousselot and editing by David Moritz is extraordinary.

At the Clackamas Town Center movie goers Michelle Evans and her daugher Kate stated "We loved Beautiful Creatures it was really great. We loved all of the visuals and the music. The ending was really good."

Brooke Tagert stated, "We would see this movie again just to see what we missed. There were a lot of twist and turns and we didn't know what was going to happen next. We're excited about a sequel."

Denise Mitchel and Kathy Buchanan stated, "We really liked this better than Breaking Dawn because there was more interaction between the main characters. In Breaking Dawn Bella was depressed most of the time and really didn't have much of a personality. Lena in Beautiful Creatures is well-rounded and has a balance. We really loved this movie and would recommend it."
