In one of his first comedic masterpieces, director Mel Brooks creates a spoof on the classic Western genre. The local sheriff is killed by politician, Hedley Lemar (Harvey Korman) in order to pave the way for a railroad. It is then that Lemar convinces the governor to appoint the first black sheriff, Bart (Cleavon Little) who, along with outlaw Jim (Gene Wilder) gains the townspeople’s favor and opposes the destruction of the town.
