Hollywood is always on watch for the celebrity baby bump. Some even go so far as to accuse thin actresses of being pregnant because of a slight protrusion in their dress but now it seems that baby bumps are out and doting dads are in.
Just this past week Alec Baldwin, Steve Martin and Hugh Grant all announced a new bundle of joy in their lives and twitter played a big part in one announcement. The best part about celebrity dads is that age isn't a factor. Steve Martin is a first time dad at the age of 67. His 41-year old wife, Anne Stringfield is the mother and the announcement was made via spokeswoman on Wednesday, February 13. The notoriously private Martin kept the child a secret for two months. The baby is estimated to be born in December and the sex of the child has yet to be released.
Alec Baldwin, on the other hand, was very vocal about his baby news. He is already the dad of a 17-year old with his ex-wife Kim Basinger but he and his bride of less than 1-year, Hilaria, announced their pregnancy via Extra on Tuesday. The baby is due in late summer and Baldwin is just as estatic the second time around as he was the first.
Hugh Grant was reluctant to announce his baby news via twitter. The proud papa is a second time father as well and basically announced the news because some journalists had begun speculating the truth.
"In answer to some journos. Am thrilled my daughter now has a brother. Adore them both to an uncool degree. They have a fab mum, " says @HackedOff Hugh. He added, "Thanks for v kind messages. Now I've confirmed (press somehow got birth certificate & were calling), hoping family will be left in peace."
He left no doubt of his parentage with his other tweet. "And just to be clear, I am the father," says Grant.
Here's wishing these new dads all the happiness in the world with their new bundles of joy!
