Deonta Weaver,18, of Moss Pond Lane in Summerville, S.C. was sentenced to 30 days in jail on Monday in Mount Pleasant Municipal Court for maliciously tossing two cats into the air and then posting the evil deeds on social media sites reported counton2.com.

Municipal Judge David Michel sentenced Weaver to 30 days in jail, however the punishment will be suspended if the teen serves 90 hours of community service. Weaver admitted to the judge his behavior towards the cats was "stupid."

According to the Charleston Animal Society, information about the cruel deeds first came to his attention in September. Two cats were shown being tossed 30 feet into the air. The videos were then posted on Instagram, Facebook, and Vine.

After months of investigation, the Mount Pleasant Police charged Weaver with animal cruelty.

Extensive research into animal cruelty involving children and young adults is widely recognized as a warning sign that help is needed to prevent future violence. Violent offenders often have a history of serious and repeated occurrences of animal cruelty in their childhood and adolescence years.
