Mt Pleasant Glass and Ethnic Festival 2011

The Mount Pleasant Glass and Ethnic Festival opens this weekend. Mount Pleasants Town Squarearea streets are now filled with festival tents and food vendors. For several years record numbers of visitors come to attend the festival to view amazing works of art glass and crafts.
Attendees can satisfy their appetite from and endless selection of ethnic foods. Hot and Spicy Sausage along with Steak and Cheese Subs are always a favorite. Sand Hill Farms had Raspberry and Homemade Apple Pie.
The Greater Mount Pleasant Historical Society was serving homemade Ham and Bean soup and roasted ham sandwiches. The Historical Society is raising funds for the completion of one of there Log cabin restoration Projects. Richard Snyder the Historical Societies President anticipates an additional $ 15.000 will be need to finish the log home that was donated by the Orley family.
Two Glass crafts man that stood out were GaryGuydosh from Gallery G Glass and Jan Lewczenko from Crystal Artistry.
Jan Lewczenko attended crystal cutting school at an early age while living in Poland. He painstakingly obtained the degree of Master Cutter”. Yearning for personal and artistic freedom Jan and his family fled Polandjust before marshal law was instituted.
With a suite case of clothes and $50 in his pocket the United Statesbecame his new home. With a new life and newly found freedom he worked hard to supply his family needs. Jan was eventually able to start working weekends on glass. Employment opened up at Lenox where he could exercise his talent. Jan was chosen to execute a special design commissioned by The Us Congress to be presented to George W. Bush at his inauguration.
Through diligence and perseverance Jan has become famous for his Art Glass and commands premium prices for his works of Art.
Gary Gudosh’s whimsical Art Glass grabs your attention as he works the rods in and out of his kiln, transforming glass into beautiful works of Art. Gary’s Art Glass has a way of capturing your attention and drawing you in for a closer look.
The Silvas Group put up an eye catching fall display at the intersection of Diamond and North Alley. Many took pictures as they pasted by.
The Mount Pleasant Glass and Ethnic Festival opens daily at 11.00 a.m.and will continue over the weekend ending Sunday night.
