Kimise ‘Song Bird’ Lee is one of the D.C. area’s most talked about vocalists. Known for merging soul, pop and jazz stylings with a Gospel message, Lee will be front and center as Mount Calvary Holy Evangelistic Church presents the songstress in “An Evening of Rejoice”.

The night of musical inspiration will be held on Sunday, Feb. 23, at 4 p.m. at Mount Calvary Holy Evangelistic Church (2504 Naylor Road, SE, Washington, DC 20020). The event is free to public and also features the musical talents of Gospel ensemble, 3 Fold Praise. For more information on the event, call 202.276.6437.

Kimise Lee, the musical guest of the evening, honed her chops at the renowned Duke Ellington School of the Arts. The cousin of Gospel pioneer Myrna Summers, music has always been in Kimise’s blood. A songwriter and superior vocalist, her initial foray into the music industry included working with notable DC-area producers including Cliff Jones, Chucky Thompson and the late Scottie Beats.

Known as a popular singer in the DMV, Kimise “Song Bird” Lee is a member of Heaven Sent, a Gospel group which also includes another notable member, Sunday Best 2009 Winner Y’Anna Crawley. In 2012, Lee dropped her debut release, "I Choose You," to rave reviews. Another group ministering at Mount Calvary Holy Evangelistic Church’s “An Evening of Rejoice” event will be 3 Fold Praise. In addition to the Gospel sounds of the musical foursome, the evening will also showcase the mime ministry of "Speechless Glory."

Started as a Prayer Band in 1945 and currently pastored by Elder Demaries Peggy Carroll, Mount Calvary Holy Evangelistic Church is located in the Southeast section of the Nation’s Capital. The church’s mission is to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to build believers holistically, both individually and as a family. The church’s music department is the sponsor of “An Evening of Rejoice” under the direction of Minister of Music & Media, Thomas McKeithan, II.
