Motorsports: Watkins Glen Int'l invites fans to watch IMSA testing

According to a press release issued Tuesday May 20 from Watkins Glen International, multiple IMSA racing teams are expected to the take to the track this Wednesday and Thursday, May 21 and 22 for testing in preparation for Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen that will take place June 26-29.

WGI invites fans to watch. Viewing may take place at the Fans R1st Viewing Area for an advance look at the competition for Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen. Fans may watch the action for free.

According to WGI, this week’s testing teams include: CORE Autosport, Falken Tire Motorsports, Risi Competizione, Riley Motorsports, Spirit of Daytona Racing, BMW Team RLL, 8Star Motorsports, AIM Autosport, and Extreme Speed Motorsports.

Townsend Bell of AIM Autosport, who will compete in the Indianapolis 500, will be attendance with teammate Bill Sweedler to test their Ferrari 458 Italia on Wednesday, May 21.

Other notable drivers participating include: Richard Westbrook and Michael Valiante of Spirit of Daytona Racing (fourth place finishers in the Rolex 24 at Daytona) and Ed Brown and Johannes van Overbeek of Extreme Speed Motorsports (winners of the Grand Prix of Monterey).

Jay O’Connell, VP Technology of Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing (RLL) and part of the 1988 Cornell Racing winning team will also be in attendance.

The Fans R1st Viewing Area is open to fans of all ages from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. during non-spectator events. Spectators may watch the action from the towering Argetsinger Grandstand.
