Lime Rock Park announced its 2014 spectator schedule via press release on Tuesday, December 3. According to Lime Rock, the track's schedule when the public can view the action will begin on Memorial Day weekend with the IMSA-sanctioned Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Series Friday and Saturday, May 23-24, and the fifth annual Sunday Royals Car Show on the 25th.
The Grand Sport (GS) and Street Tuner (ST) divisions will each have separate races on Saturday. Supporting the weekend will be the popular IMSA Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama championship, plus VSCCA handicap races.
According to Lime Rock, the Sunday Royals Car Show draws 200-400 vehicles from rare sports cars and contemporary supercars to hundreds of muscle cars from the 60s and 70s; the event benefits local charities.
Also included on the calendar is a summer SCCA Regional race weekend and the traditional early fall NARRC Run-offs with dates to be announced.
The 2014 season continues with the Historic Festival 32 beginning Thursday, August 28, with the Vintage Race Car Parade and Falls Village Street Fair, now in its fourth year. More than 120 cars will drive through a 17-mile rally route lined with spectators, ending at the Street Fair in Falls Village.
On Friday, August 29, 300 historic race cars practice and qualify, then Saturday (Aug. 30) 20 races take place. August 31 is the Sunday in the Park concours delegance where 200-plus invited entrants are displayed on Sam Posey Straight along with 600 collector cars on show along the rest of Lime Rock's 1.5 mile circuit, making up the Gathering of the Marques.
On Labor Day Monday (Sept. 1), racing continues with 20 more contests. Special guests, demo laps and noted collectors and their cars are also part of Historic Festival 32.
Friday and Saturday, September 19 and 20, will see the return of SCCA Pro Racings Trans-Am Championship. Support races for the Trans-Am weekend will be announced when confirmed.
Though not open to the public, Lime Rock Park will also host, for the first time, at a date yet to be announced, the Optima Batteries/ChumpCar World Series.
