A man was struck and killed Tuesday morning after he jumped the median into oncoming traffic on I-285 in Clayton County. And investigators said shortly before he jumped he had gotten into a crash while arguing with his wife. They are calling his death a suicide, according to media reports.

The incident happened around 8:30 a.m. on I-285 eastbound at Riverdale Road near the Hartsfield Jackson International Airport Tunnel, according to Clayton County police. Investigators said David Gue, 42, and his wife, 36-year-old Shanaz Gue, both of Stockbridge, were involved in a domestic dispute when Gue deliberately veered into the median wall on the interstate.

The man then exited his car and began walking on the interstate, police said. A short time later he jumped the median into oncoming traffic and was struck by three vehicles, police spokeswoman Officer JaQuitta Williams said. The man was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries, Williams said.

His wife, who remained in the car after the crash, was also transported to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries, Williams said. All lanes of I-285 in both directions were shut down while police investigated the incident.

The man's death was the third suicide of the summer on I-285, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. On June 12, a man jumped to his death from a Spaghetti Junction overpass just 10 days after another man committed suicide by jumping from an overpass in the same I-285/I-85 interchange, the paper reported.
