A Jacksonville woman was injured in a motorcycle accident in Flagler County Sunday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The FHP in Jacksonville says 49-year old Kelly Sue Melton was flown to Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach in critical condition. Troopers say Melton lost control of her bike around 4:30 Sunday afternoon, on U-S 1 near Commerce Boulevard, south of Palm Coast Parkway. The FHP says Melton was riding along with two other bikers northbound on U-S 1, and they were all slowing for a red light at Palm Coast Parkway. Troopers say Melton’s bike sideswiped one of the other bikes beside her, and then her front tire hit the rear tire of a bike in front of her. Melton was then ejected from her bike, and troopers said she was not wearing a helmet. Her motorcycle traveled another 211 feet before coming to rest in the median. The FHP says the two other bikers, also from Jacksonville, were able to maintain control of their motorcycles after the accident, and the crash investigation is continuing.
