If you hadn't noticed, the Tetons really are Grand
Leaving Jackson on US 89 takes you on a rambling ride along the Snake River, beautiful enough to make you forget all about Jackson traffic, prices, and hyper-tourism.
Once you reach Alpine you embark on a Small Town Tour of Idaho, Utah, Colorado, and Wyoming. Rich farm and ranch land is dotted with towns, from the classic brick downtown to the slightly more... uh, creative.
Afton, Wyoming welcomes visitors with with the worlds largest elk horn arch, spanning the full width of Main Street (see slide show below).
A small town east of Craig, Colorado, turned a classic 1940's motel into an office park/shopping mall.
Dinosaur, Colorado (formerly Artesia) was renamed to cash in on Dinosaur National Monument just three miles away. Streets in the town are named after dinosaurs, including Brontosaurus Boulevard, Stegosaurus Freeway, Triceratops Terrace, Brachiosaurus Bypass, and Diplodicus Drive. With a population of 319, it's amazing they have more than one street.
But this part of the world is all about the land. Check the slide show below for some of the best motorcycling anywhere.
