Is it any wonder that newspapers have lost a huge percentage of their classified advertising? With sites such as Craigslist.com offering ads for free, whether you're selling a motorcycle, shopping for parts, or whatever, why would anyone pay for something they can get free?
Well, the latest online option for connecting buyers and sellers has debuted, with CycleTrader.com now offering through iTunes an iPad app that gives users access, they say, to 150,000 new and used motorcycles for sale across the country.
Of course, sifting through 150,000 listings would be a bit daunting, so the app is GPS-sensitive, allowing you to search by city, state, Zip code, and radius. You can also drill down to find bikes based on price, year, and type, as well as brand.
Once you've found something that looks interesting, the app also provides a calculator to estimate monthly payments and you can contact the seller directly via the app.
Of course, buying a bike in another city is a bit more effort than getting one locally, but there is one benefit: It comes with a road trip built in. That's a heck of a lot better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick!

I often check online ads for motorcycles just to see if there is a new bike in my future. I don't even know the last time I bought a newspaper.

And that's a big Amen!
