An Argentinian man was killed and his passenger was injured in a motorcycle collision with a horse on Sunday, September 29. According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, 29-year-old Marc Lanz, died in the crash. His female rider, Maria Ferrer, 30, suffered injuries. Lanz and Ferrer were on a motorcycle excursion with four other motorcyclists through rural Mineral County, Nevada.
The accident occurred on U.S. Highway 6 outside Tonopah just before 7:30 p.m. when a loose horse ran into the road ahead of them. Unable to avoid the collision, Lanz crashed into the horse and was thrown from his bike. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Ferrer was rushed by ambulance to a Reno hospital, Renown Regional Medical Center. The extent of her injuries were not released as of Tuesday.
The other motorcyclists were able to avoid the crash and were not injured.
The horse was also killed in the collision with the motorcycle.
