MotoGP Racing in Austin, TX

Hang on to you seat, it is racing time in Texas!

Usually when a guy from TX mentions racing he is talking NASCAR but the racing that I am talking about is of the two wheel variety. MotoGP will hold their first race at the newly built Circuit of the Americas track in Austin, TX this month. This is a 3 day event that runs April 19 - 21 and general admission tickets start at just $89 for the entire weekend.

MotoGP is not as big in the US as it is in the European countries, but they are trying to build their presence here in the US by hosting 3 races on US soil this year. The MotoGP circuit has two native Texans in the premiere class of riders. Ben Spies a native Texan and Colin Edwards both will be racing on their home soil in the MotoGP for the first time.

I am a big fan of motorcycle road racing but have only had the opportunity to watch riders on the local CMRA circuit, so I am really excited to watch the best riders in the world in person. If you are a racing fan and have interests in motorcycles, you owe it to yourself to start looking in to MotoGP racing.

The first race of the MotoGP season is scheduled for April 7th in Qatar and can be found on the Speed Network, check your listings to find the time. Watch the race on Speed this weekend to get a sense of the excitement that this sport brings and consider making a road trip to Austin to watch the race. I will be there camping next to the track all weekend, shoot me a message on Twitter if you want more info. (@RiderGroups) Here is the full weekend's Austin MotoGP schedule.

See you at the track!
