Another Hole In the Head international genre film festival is now underway in San Francisco. This is where local scream queens and gorehounds can go check out titles such as All Cheerleaders Die, Bath Salt Zombies, Gothic Lolita Battle Bear, Jurassic Block, and the like.
The highlight for Saturday is the offbeat horror comedy Motivational Growth. Jeffery Combs lends his voice acting ability to The Mold, a smooth-talking household fungal growth that begins giving advise to the reclusive protagonist/narrator Ian Folivor (Adrian DiGiovanni) after a suicide attempt. It's a wacky movie, along the lines of John Dies at the End, only more domestic.
Motivational Growth has already won Grand Jury awards at Toronto After Dark, Buffalo Dreams, and Housecore Horror festivals. This standout film is brought to us by director Don Thacker, and San Francisco-based producer Alexis Thacker. The Bay Area premiere will take place at 7pm on Saturday, December 7, at New People Cinema in San Francisco (1746 Post Street). Expect a full review of the film soon.
Additional Another Hole In the Head films playing at New People Cinema tomorrow include cosplay documentary My Other Me, horror film Judas Ghost, and Bloodmarsh Krackoon, an ever more outlandish horror comedy. Tickets for each individual film, including Motivational Growth, cost $10. There are also passes for sale if you wish to see more than a few films. The festival schedule is posted here. This year's festival ends on Thursday, December 19, with the world premieres of The G-String Horror Demon Cut and Senn.
