At the beginning of November, Motion City Soundtrack's Justin Pierre, began his trek across the country promoting his band's upcoming album, My Dinosaur Life, which releases on January 19th on Columbia Records.
The mini-tour was dubbed the "Dino Tour" in part of the new album. The tour consisted of many random and spontaneous acoustic performances by Motion City Soundtrack's front man Justin Pierre. Pierre along with a small crew made its way across the nation and visited many cities and landmarks on its month-long tour.
A tour blog was set up and to document and inform the public about the special performances. Information was founded out by the website and through Pierre's personal Twitter account. By utilizing the internet, the Dino Trail could quickly inform all of its followers up to date details and locations of where the impromptu performances were taking place. After each performance it was documented and was put up on the tour's website. The website features pictures and videos of the performances.
On Monday the 23rd of November, Pierre and his mini crew made its way back to its hometown and held a mini acoustic performance at the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. Guests were informed to bring flashlights and umbrellas via Twitter. After the short and sweet performance at the Sculpture Garden, Pierre continued his antics at The Beat Coffee House, a local coffee shop in uptown.
It was great to have witness such a warm homecoming for one of Minnesota's most beloved bands. They will not be home for long though as they will embark on their headlining tour with Weezer starting the first of December in Chicago. Check out their website for the rest of their tour dates. Motion City Soundtrack will make its way back to Minneapolis after the New Years on January 23rd at the acclaimed First Avenue.
