Mothers of Intention

Penned by Joanne Bamberger, political/media analyst and writer, Mother's of Intention is a compilation of bipartisan essays from women who span the political spectrum. Bamberger infuses the book with her wit, wisdom and unique perspectives as a self described “Recovering Attorney” and mother. She touches on everything from the sociopolitical stigma that oft times accompanies the arrival of the stork to grassroots activism, foreign policy to the health-care debate.

Mother's of Intention -through life stories and wicked humor- illustrates that women who have become mothers are still just as -if not more- relevant, passionate and informed as they were prior to changing diapers. It’s a well thought out and eloquent statement on the fact that women, and especially mothers, are a force to be reckoned with in the political arena.  Bamberger eloquently illustrates the point that being the captain of the football team in college in no way better equips one for taking on a leadership roll in politics than the ability to orchestrate the intricacies of running a family.

This book stands as testimony to the validity and influence of women in the political arena. Whether that be through their savvy use of social media, ability to engage and motivate their communities or participating directly in the political process. Mother’s of Intention is both intelligent and enlightening while at the same time humorous and moving. The take away is that the “machine” may be slow to catch on but a mom has eyes in the back of her head so that she always knows what’s going on!

(Bamberger is also the founder of the popular blog Pundit Mom, a long-time broadcast journalist has been featured on NPR, CNN, BBC and beyond.)
