Mother's Day group fitness events, free for moms

It's a big happy Mother's Day on Sunday to all the moms out there, and a couple of Denver fitness centers are celebrating by offering free group fitness classes to mothers.

24 Hour Fitness is hosting an open-door Saturday, which means free classes for guests -- including moms! There is a special Mother's Day Zumba class on Saturday, where one lucky name will be drawn to win a prize. While you're there, take advantage of the other group fitness offerings. Participants can enjoy free child care for their little ones. Each of Denver's many 24 Hour Fitness locations has a different schedule for Saturday; look online to see when Zumba is happening at the club nearest you.

Samadhi Center for Yoga is hosting a Family Yoga Class on Sunday, May 8, from 10:00-11:30am. Mothers are free; family members cost $10. You can bring your children aged 4-10. Kids are natural yogis, and the instructor of this class, Julie Campilio, is a kids yoga specialist. Enjoy partner poses, games, aromatheraphy, and more. There will be snacks, live music, and an opportunity to win a facial!

Setting an example of health and fitness is one of the best gifts you can give to your children -- and to yourself. Set aside some time this spring for hikes, bike rides, and an occasional 5K (there are so many coming up!). You'll bond with your children over something that's good for all of you.
