Happy Mother's Day on Sunday, May 8, 2011! Here is a list of great Mother's Day gift ideas and fun Mother's Day (or any-day) activities for Kansas City moms.

A Gift Fit for a Princess

This Mother's Day, give mom tickets to see “Diana: A Celebration” at Union Station. Any mom with royal wedding fever will appreciate this chance to see Princess Diana's wedding gown and many mementos that celebrate her life and influence. The exhibit will remain in Kansas City through June 12, 2011. To avoid large crowds, plan to see the exhibit during the week. Note that the exhibit is NOT OPEN MONDAYS. For more information, go to “Diana: A Celebration.”

Before or after seeing “Diana: A Celebration,” treat Mom to tea. Full tea and light tea are available by reservation (advance payment required), Tuesdays through Sundays. Call 816-765-4707 to reserve your tea.

Dinner and a Play

Moms love the great food and great shows at the New Theatre Restaurant in Overland Park, Kansas. To buy tickets to “The Odd Couple” (showing now through June 19th) or “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” call the box office at 913-649-7469 or go here: New Theatre.

Take Mom and the Kids to See Cirque du Soleil

Cirque du Soleil's “Dralion” is coming to the Sprint Center in Kansas City shortly after Mother's Day, May 11-15. Use the promo code “MOM” to get two adult tickets and two kid's tickets for $110.
