According to the Florida Sun-Sentinel, Sherry Jarvis, the mother of Denver Jarvis, who is charged as an adult with second-degree attempted murder, said she does not deny there was "wrongdoing" on her son's part in the Oct. 12 burning of Michael Brewer, 15.
But she said he is too young to be imprisoned for 30 years, which he and two other teens charged in the case could face if convicted.
"I have said this before and I'll say it again, that I agree that there should be punishment," she said. "But my opinion, and it's not just because it's my son … this is a child and to just throw him away, I don't see how that helps."
Instead, prosecutors should consider some form of rehabilitation, Sherry Jarvis said.
Sherry Jarvis went on to say that there are two sides to the story. Many wonder what the other side could possibly be? How could anyone of sound mind intentionally douse someone else in rubbing alcohol and watch another teen flick a match?
According to detectives, Denver Jarvis poured rubbing alcohol on Brewer moments before another teen, Jesus Mendez, flicked a lighter and set their one-time friend ablaze. A third teenager, Matthew Bent, was charged with directing the attack.

The problem with not charging him as an adult is that juvenile records become expunged and for such a terrible crime, this record really deserves to stick with him! Besides that fact, he's 3 years from becoming an adult and I don't really think 3 years is a big deal, especially for this crime. I think he deserves what he gets and his parents should have done a better job in teaching their children right from wrong, along with paying attention to who their kids are hanging out with. My parents did both those things and I never tried to kill anyone.
They are un educated white trash. What do you expect?? I hpoe that boy and the other boys get ram rodded hard in prison for doing what they did to that boy. Yes Brewer should of made some arrangement to pay for the game. But do not burn a kid or anyone for that matter.
The Jarvis parents are trash and they should go to a burn unit and look at the other people in there. They should go everyday and see what their children had done.
Note to Sherry Jarvis: If we turned back the clock and reset the characters so that your son was burned, would you be telling prosecutors to seek some kind of rehab vs actual prison time for setting your own son on fire? I have a feeling you would be calling for everything just short of the death penalty (if not that). You must now live with the consequences of your son's action. Warning to any parent whose child is accused of or shows signs of bullying or potential criminal behavior: if you ignore the problem and believe that this shall pass, you may become the next Sherry Jarvis. I sincerely doubt that this was Denver's first act of brutality, although it certainly is his most horrible. Note to Denver: If you believe the pain you inflicted is horrible, just wait. Your life in prison will be Hell on Earth for many years to come! You won the battle. You LOST the war! And that message should be read loud and clear to all childhood bullies!
They trashed Micheal's life~!
They decided it could be tossed away..So now "it isn't fair" that for doing this they will have to toss their own away~! ?
Amazing how their 'own' lives matter so much.
