The Daily Mail reports a story about Mistie Atkinson, 32, a woman charged in May for having an incestuous relationship with her teenage son. On Wednesday, a Napa California court sentenced her to four years and eight months in prison. After a fifteen year separation, Atkinson located her son through Facebook, and began sending him inappropriate messages. The teen lived with his father, who had legal custody. Family members discovered the inappropriate messages and reported them to authorities, who found them together in a Ukiah, California motel room.
Police checked the teen’s phone and found videos of sexual activity between Atkinson and her son. Last May, she pleaded no contest to incest and other charges. Atkinson denied her relationship as incestuous. She claimed it was a case of genetic attraction. The term applies to family members who may become sexually attracted to other family members as adults. They had made plans about running away together.
