A baby is receiving treatment in the hospital after emergency responders said the child was born in a toilet Monday afternoon in Madison, Ala.
Officials with HEMSI said the mother gave birth in a room at the Country Hearth Inn and Suites motel on Madison Boulevard.
WAFF 48 reported a witness, Angel McCryndle, was in the room next door when it happened around 2:45 p.m. She said it was a very scary experience.
"I just kept hearing a lot of bumping and screaming then all of a sudden I heard a bump on the wall and somebody just scream for help," McCryndle told the news station. She and other guests who heard the cries went to maintenance to let them in the room.
By the time they called 911 and got into the room, the baby had been born. McCryndle said all she heard was the mother screaming “Help, I had the baby,” according to the report.
Emergency workers said the baby boy and his mother are doing well and being evaluated at Huntsville Women's and Children Hospital.
No charges are being filed at this time. As far as the baby being born in the toilet, officials said there is nothing criminal about it and that it just happens that way sometimes.
