A mother and daughter were caught shoplifting from the Burlington Coat Factory this past Friday, along with a third person. The mother and daughter were 43 year old Gracie Johnson and 16 year old Rianna Tarell Johnson. They are reported to have been trying to take $39 worth of merchandise, which included underwear, earrings and a necklace. Once confronted, all three headed for a body of water near the store to escape. The store security gurad was able to apprehend one of the perpetrators while the mother and daughter remained in the water. The security gurad was unsuccessful in apprehending these two individuals. From the rains on Friday, the body of water rose and the two individuals were swept away. Their bodies were found Saturday morning. The creek in which the two individuals were swept away in is usually 2 feet deep, but had risen to 10 feet deep from the rain.
In today's society, not much thought is given to the end of the means. Two lives have been lost over $39 worth of merchandise that wasn't a necessity for life. As of now, no one knows what the reason why these people tried to shoplift the items reported, but in the end, two of them gave their lives. There is no guarantee they would have see the light of day from the next day, but this was a terrible way to go, especially the reason behind why and how they lost their lives. This just goes to show that actions can speak much about a person and their character.
