A 23-year-old Hartsville, SC mother, who was charged as an accessory to murder in the shooting death of her 21-month-old daughter, Madison Dolford, was denied bond on Dec. 3, 2013, according to SC Now.
April Dixon and Timothy O’Neil Sanders, 40, were detained on drug charges Monday night shortly after Madison was shot dead in the yard of a local residence around 6:15 p.m., Carolina Alive reports.
Late Tuesday, Sanders was served with an arrest warrant for murder and use of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, according to SC Now.
Natalie Zeigler, a spokesperson for the City of Hartsville told SC Now that investigators are currently unaware of the circumstances surrounding the shooting, however, there are unconfirmed reports that Dixon and Sanders had an ongoing dispute.
Sanders was also denied bond Tuesday.
According to Carolina Live, State Senator Gerald Malloy spoke near the home where Madison was shot, saying, “We realize we have a very heinous act, a tragedy here. The loss of a child, a child 21 months of age. I don’t think you can get any worse or a more despicable act as to what has happened… This is one of the most unfortunate things I’ve seen in all my years of living.”
In addition, Hartsville Mayor Mel Pennington tweeted, “Our hearts are heavy tonight as a city mourns a senseless act of violence, ending the life of an innocent little angel.”
