Mother Cabrini Shrine

While traveling in 1902 St. Frances Xavier Cabrini came across a special piece of land on the out skirts of Golden, Colorado. It was here on the foot hills of Lookout Mountains where Mother Cabrini built a Stone House to be used as a summer camp for girls from the Queen of Heaven Orphanage in Denver.

Mother Cabrini loved the location so much she had a statue of Jesus erected on the top of the hill. This statue is known as the Scared Heart of Jesus. Below this twenty-two foot statue is the Heart of Stones where Mother Cabrini took several sisters and some of the children from the orphanage and placed white stone in shape of a heart with a cross and crown of thorns. Today the Heart of Stones is now preserved under glass. Enjoy the 373 steps to the top of the statue and the view of Denver below.

At the foot of the steps is The Spring. This is where Mother Cabrini found fresh clean water which has supplied water for all to drink and is thought to bring peace and healing to all that partake. The Spring is still providing clean fresh water today.
