Mother allegedly mailed kids knife to murder grandparents

A mother in Lakeland, Fla., allegedly mailed her daughters a knife and requested they murder their grandparents, according to ABC News.

The girls, ages 7 and 9, live with their grandparents in Pitt County, N.C., because their mother Leticia Silva, 31, lost custody of them.

“In February, the grandmother told law enforcement that she found a knife under one of the children's pillows.” The girls then informed authorities that Silva was the one who sent them the switchblade pocket knife.

They also explained that their mother then called them during Christmas, asking them to use a knife from the kitchen to kill their grandparents instead.

“The kitchen knife was the weapon that their grandmother found under the pillow.”

According to WCTI 12, the grandparents said the girls stated that they would not have killed their grandparents.

“On Monday, Silva turned herself in, WNCT reported. She was charged with four counts of solicitation to commit murder and is being held on a $5 million secured bond.”

Nevertheless, Silva’s family told WCTI 12 that the grandparents are lying about the entire incident.
