High pressure along the New England coast will gradually shift eastward today as low pressure gathers strength across the center of the nation. Mid and high level moisture from the developing low will stream northeastward across the area maintaining partly to mostly cloudy skies across northeastern Ohio today. A few locations could see a sprinkle, but I think most places will stay dry. High temperatures today will reach the mid to upper 50s. Winds S 5-15 mph.
Tonight will be partly to mostly cloudy with lows around 40. Winds S 5-10 mph.
On Wednesday, low pressure will move northeastward into the western lakes, dragging a cold front eastward into the Ohio Valley and lower Great Lakes by late in the day. Moisture will continue to increase throughout the day. Clouds will thicken up and showers will overspread the area from west to east by late afternoon. It will be mild with high temperatures climbing to the low to mid 60s. Winds S 10-20 mph.
Wednesday night, it will be cloudy with occasional rain as the cold front moves eastward across the area. Lows will fall to around 40 degrees.
Rain will gradually taper to showers Thursday morning as the front moves east of the area. Showers will end by early afternoon. It will be breezy and chilly as colder air spreads across the region in the wake of the front. High temperatures on Thursday will only recover to the mid to upper 40s.
Looking ahead: Colder air will spread across the area Thursday night and Friday with scattered lake effect rain and snow showers likely. Some light accumulations are possible across the higher terrain of the snow belt. Lows Thursday night will be around 30 with highs on Friday in the mid 40s.
Saturday will be partly cloudy with highs reaching the mid to upper 40s.
Another cold front will cross the area Saturday night accompanied by scattered rain or snow showers. Lows will be in the 30s.
Another shot of chilly air will spread across the area on Sunday. It will be mostly cloudy with a chance of rain and snow showers, mainly across the snow belt. Highs will reach the mid 40s.
