Most Innovative Technology? Wanderu Headed to SXSW Interactive Accelerator

Wanderu, a Boston-based start-up set out to make finding and booking inter-city bus and train tickets easier, has been selected as one of eight finalists to compete in the ‘Innovative Technology’ category at the upcoming 2013 South by Southwest (SXSW) Interactive Accelerator.

Taking place in March 11-13, 2013 in Austin, TX, the SXSW Interactive Accelerator is part of the SXSW Interactive which uncovers the best new digital work, from mobile and tablet apps to websites and installations, while celebrating those who are building tomorrow’s interactive trends. Despite being merely a year old, Wanderu stood out amongst hundreds of other enterprises and start-ups with its innovative approach in utilizing the latest online technologies to create an easy-to-use, one-stop search for travelers to find and book inter-city buses and trains.

“This is a huge honor and a welcome endorsement for us,” said Wanderu CEO Polina Raygorodskaya. “By participating in the 2013 SXSW Interactive Accelerator, we hope that more and more people will find out about Wanderu and, as a result, save time and energy in scheduling their trips. Our mission is to help people find and book the best option serving their route but also to educate them on the environmental benefits of riding a bus or train versus driving their own car or flying.”

Past recipients of the SXSW Innovative Technology Award include healthcare-oriented platform Ginger.io and fellow travel search company Hipmunk, among others. The winner of this year’s competition will be announced on March 12, 2013 during a special ceremony at the Austin Hilton Downtown in Austin, TX.
