Most Fascinating People list of 2013 is announced as Barbara Walters shares her annual pick of folks that dominate the headlines over the year. There are very few surprises on the list, if any at all, as the list is filled with a former Disney kid who made the word “twerking” famous this year, a newborn future king, red necks with scraggly beards and the list goes on, according to USA Today on Dec. 2.
Barbara Walters has picked a couple of heroic people, like Robin Roberts whose health gave her a fight for her life in 2013 and Pope Francis who is bringing the Catholic Church into modern times. The rest are just as fascinating, but mostly for frivolous behavior like Kim Kardashian and Kanye West who do nothing more than show up in the headlines for every move they make.
Here is Barbara Walter’s pick for the 2013 Most Fascinating People:
(The number one most fascinating person for 2013 will be revealed on her "Most Fascinating" special on Dec. 18.)
• ABC anchor Robin Roberts
• Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence
• The stars of Duck Dynasty
• Singer Miley Cyrus
• Pope Francis
• Prince George
• Long-distance swimmer Diana Nyad
• Kimye (Kim Kardashian and Kanye West)
• NSA leaker Edward Snowden
All these folks have caught the world's attention this year and some did so for very good reasons. Others however, were just fascinating in a way that clowns in a circus are fascinating, like Kimye and Miley Cyrus.
After 20 years of Walters offering up this "Most Fascinating" list via a TV special, this will be the last one. Walters special will air on Wednesday, Dec. 18. The annual TV event will reveal Walters' No. 1 most fascinating person. Who might that be?
With the way the list reads, as it is very predictable this year, chances are President Obama will fill that spot. His Obamacare attempt will most likely push him into Walters' number one spot. Who do you think will top the list of Most Fascinating People 2013.
