The Most Desirable Woman poll by occasionally includes some strong female runners repeated year after year, but a rather unexpected leading choice this 2014 is Emilia Clarke. The “Game of Thrones” actress beat out 98 other sexy ladies — the official poll includes the “Top 99 Most Desirable Women in the World,” as stated in the official title — for the top spot. As the Mother of Dragons on the hit series, perhaps this beauty’s power and rising drive to reach the contended-after throne struck a chord in many U.S. men this year.

The Top Five on the Most Desirable Women list are some other familiar favorites. Emma Watson of “Harry Potter” fame used her magic to come in at an impressive #5 in the poll, while the lovely Jennifer Lawrence of “The Hunger Games” shot an arrow straight to #4. However, both beautiful movie actresses lost out to Emily Ratajkowski of “Blurred Lines” infamy (who scored at #3 this year) and the unofficial Internet girlfriend clocking in at runner-up #2, Alison Brie.

Aside from Emilia Clarke proving her place at the top of the sexiest women’s heap in the 2014’s hottest list, quite a few people were understandably shocked to discover that Beyonce Knowles didn’t even make it into the Top Ten. Both Robin Wright and Dylan Penn also made the desired list, though both mother and daughter scored in the 90th percentile.
