Looking for a fun holiday-themed way to recover from Christmas Day? The Moscow Ballet arrives in New Orleans for one performance of the classic Tchaikovsky story. It happens Thursday, 26 December, at 7:30p.
The company, consisting of 40 members, includes an award-winning list of principals performers, and an incredible ballet group. They incorporate Olympic-worthy acrobatics to the seasoned tale to entertain audience members of all ages.
The Nutcracker combines ballet with Tchaikovsky's timeless score to express Masha's story of meeting her prince. This special performance, though, holds an additional wonder exclusive to the Moscow Ballet—the 'Dove of Peace' showcases two dancers joining as one, prancing the stage as a bird with a twenty foot wingspan.
For 2013, the wardrobe team has crafted 200 new, hand-embellished costumes from Shakespearean designer Arthur Oliver, pieced together in the oldest theatrical shop in St. Petersberg.
