Mortal Kombat is bringing back the violence, gore and fatalities that we've become accustomed to in the series and now the official release date for North America has been announced for the PS3 and Xbox 360 game. Oh and there's a new trailer of Mileena eating opponents too.
Fighters need to mark their calendars for an April 19, 2011 release of Mortal Kombat. Update: We've also got the new boxart for the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game in our slideshow gallery.
Mortal Kombat serves as a sort of reboot of the series that takes place in an alternate world that retells the events of Mortal Kombat 1, 2 and 3.
Of course, while the story is nice the real fun is playing against others in multiplayer. Kratos from God of War was announced as a Playstation 3 exclusive while it looks as if the Xbox 360 will not get an extra character.
There are 18 characters total announced so far with more on the way. Here's the complete roster as it is known today.
