Morning Buzz: Perfect weather day offer Lancaster many choices today

Today will be a perfect day to get out and enjoy the weather. A sunny day with a high of 66 is predicted. The Girls on the Run (GOTR) will be running their 5K this morning. The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church preschool is holding a yard sale. The Sierra Club is holding a clean up. The Central Market is open this morning … and the choices go on.

It’s yard sale time. Perhaps in the City, they may be technically porch sales, but all the same, it is that time of the year people wake up early on a Saturday morning to either sell their old unwantables or drive around looking for someone else’s unwantables! Today, from 8 a.m. to noon, stop over to 64 Hershey Avenue where the preschool class at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church will hold a yard sale. There will be everything there: furniture, books, toys, jewelry, household items, and more. There will also be food and beverages served.

The Sierra Club will be cleaning up Triangle Park today from 9 a.m. to noon. The public is invited to participate as well. Triangle Park is across from Lancaster Brewing Co., at the intersections of North Shippen, Walnut, and East Lemon Streets.

Lancaster Central Market is open 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. today.

The Roaring Brook Market will hold a Morning Hypnosis Session for Stress Relief from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. on 17 May. The Market is located at 155 East King Street. Tellus360, 24 E King Street, offers Yoga on the Roof Sunday at 12:30 p.m.

The Lancaster Barnstormers do great on the road and last night was no different. The Barnstormers held off the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs (SOMD), winning 5-2. The Barnstormers are now 13-7. They are in Maryland again today. Tonight is the second game in a three game series at SOMD.

The Annex 24 Gallery offers a variety of artists. The current exhibit runs through 1 June. Gallery hours are: Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Thursday and Friday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Gallery is located at 24 West Walnut Street.

James Warhol’s exhibit, “Visiting a Pop Icon,” continues at the Demuth Museum. The exhibit by Andy Warhol’s nephew will continue through 6 July. The Museum is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturday and again Sundays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The Museum is located at 120 East King Street.

On Tuesdays and Saturdays the Lancaster Public Library holds regular Literacy Classes for those wishing to communicate better in English. Tuesday classes are at 1 p.m. and Saturday classes are at 11 a.m. Classes are free but do require registration. The Library is located at 125 North Duke Street.

Sugarcoat will perform at the Village tonight. StarChild will also appear as a special guest. The show begins at 9 p.m. The Village Nightclub is located at 205 North Christian Street.

On Saturday, 24 May there will be a March Against Monsanto at Penn Square. The March will begin at 2 p.m. There will be speakers and workshops as well as vendors and GMO free food samples available to help raise awareness.

A new indoor trampoline park is set to open next month. The Sky Zone Indoor Trampoline Park is now hiring more than 100 employees for its new park at 1701 Hempstead Road. The park is set to open in late June 2014.
