Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms and grandmothers in Lancaster today! There are many special treats throughout the City today in recognition of our moms.
Commonwealth on Queen has a few spaces available yet for their Mother’s Day Brunch. A special menu includes Breakfast on the Farm, Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict, Nutella Stuffed French Toast with Bananas and Almonds, Carrot Ginger Soup, and so much more! The Brunch will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Commonwealth on Queen is located at 301 North Queen Street. Reservations are required.
The Lancaster Science Factory will hold a holiday workshop today in honor of Mother’s Day. There will be mother-child activities planned today from noon to 2 p.m. Moms are free today. The Lancaster Science Factory is located at 454 New Holland Avenue.
The Make a Wish Mother’s Day Convoy is today. This is the 25th Annual Make A Wish Truck Convoy this year and has been recognized in the 2003 Guinness Book of World Records as the longest running truck convoy in the world. Trucks will pull out of Burle Business Park, on New Holland Avenue, at 1:30 p.m. Beginning at 8:30 a.m. though is food, music, and an auction. There will also be a chicken bbq. The convoy will travel a 28 mile loop.
The Long Island Ducks shut out the Lancaster Barnstormers last night. The final score was 5-0. The two face off again here in Lancaster at 1 p.m. today. Also today, Phillies catcher Dutch Daulton will be at the Clipper Stadium. He will sign autographs and meet fans. The Barnstormers are now 10-5. The last two losses have allowed the Somerset Patriots to sneak up and tie them for top place in the League.
The Rock Ford Plantation will hold its Second Sunday Living History Series. Enjoy a tour of the historic mansion. Observe a society tea and learn of the social manner and etiquette surrounding tea. There is an admission, which will benefit the upkeep and preservation of the Plantation. The event runs 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Annex 24 Gallery offers a variety of artists. The current exhibit runs through 1 June. The gallery is open today from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is located at 24 West Walnut Street.
Yoga on the Roof will be held today at 12:30 p.m. at Tellus360. Tellus360 is located at 24 East King Street.
The weather is finally more spring-like and many of us are thinking about our yards and patios. Home Depot today is holding an instructional DIY workshop on building a paver path. The session is from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Home Depot is located in the Red Rose Commons, 1700 Fruitville Pike.
James Warhol’s exhibit, “Visiting a Pop Icon,” will continue today at the Demuth Museum. The exhibit by Andy Warhol’s nephew will continue through 6 July. The Museum is open today from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and is located at 120 East King Street.
Today is the last day to see Buddy Holly at the Fulton Theatre. The show time is 2 p.m.
Tellus360, 24 East King Street, will host a Jam Session this afternoon. Corty Byron will lead the 2 p.m. session.
This weekend is the 7th Annual National Train Days. The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg is celebrating! Activities over the weekend will include a scavenger hunt, events for the kids, an operating O gauge model train displays, Operation Lifesaver and more.
A heads up … On Saturday, 24 May there will be a March Against Monsanto at Penn Square. The March will begin at 2 p.m. There will be speakers and workshops as well as vendors and GMO free food samples available to help raise awareness.
