Morgan Spurlock’s long-awaited documentary Comic-Con – Episode IV: A Fan’s Hope will premiere April 6th on VOD (Video-On-Demand). Shot in and around the floor of the San Diego convention in July 2010, the film by the Super-Size Me documentarian is a collaboration between Spurlock, producer Thomas Tull, comic legend Stan Lee, writer-director-ubergeek Joss Whedon, and internet entrepreneur Harry Knowles. Besides spotlighting the many geeks and nerds and cosplayers that populate the show, the film also features interviews from famous faces such as Kevin Smith, Seth Rogan, Eli Roth, Kenneth Branaugh, and many more.
The project has already been available in book form since July 2011, with the hardcover edition published by DK with photography by Alba Tull.
The trailer puts the spotlight on three attendees: First up is Anthony Calderon, an avid collector who spends the show hunting down rare action figures and other memorabilia. The second is Skip Harvey, an aspiring comic artist seeking to show off his work to the biggest names in the business. The third is Holly Conrad, a cosplayer who debuted her now famous Mass Effect 2 cosplay line-up at the show including her own take on the game’s hero (Female) Commander Shepard.
Comic-Con – Episode IV: A Fan’s Hope will enjoy a special premiere event on April 4th at the Arclight Theatre at the Cinerama Dome in Los Angeles. The official site is here.
