Morgan Shinlever has moved up the coaching ranks fast.
Currently, the Athletic Director at Bearden, Shinlever who was an assistant coach for the Bulldogs last year has been promoted to head coach.
"Bearden High School is proud to announce that Morgan Shinlever will be our Head Coach," the school announced via press release on Tuesday.
Shinlever has been the Athletic Director the last two years and has coached football as an assistant at Bearden since 2006.
"I am very excited and grateful for this opportunity," Shinlever said. "I look forward to going the program. My goal is to develop BHS into a football program that produces outstanding young men and is recognized throughout the state."
He replaces Brad Taylor who resigned in December after seven years.
Taylor complied a 54-28 record and the Bulldogs made the playoffs six straight years (2007-2012) under Taylor.
In 2007 they reached the Class 5A Semifinals where they were defeated by eventual champion Smyrna 17-14.
The Bulldogs finished 3-7 in 2013.
Shinlever started his coaching career at Greenback in 2004 as he coached wide receivers and linebackers for two years before coming to Bearden.
Shinlever is a 1999 Maryville High School graduate and played linebacker on the 1998 Class 4A state title team.
After graduation, Shinlever lettered four years playing linebacker at nearby Maryville College.
Currently there are open jobs at Hickman County, Hixson, Whitwell, Middle Tennessee Christian, Clay County, Bolivar, Fairley, Clarksville Northwest, Ezell Harding, Red Bank, Perry County, Clarksville, Unicoi County, Nashville Overton, Marion County, Chattanooga Central, Jackson Christian and Knoxville Central as schools currently looking for a head coach.
