“Homeland” cans two of their original cast members, passing this news along in a recently released announcement that claims the two characters will not return as season regulars on the popular show. Morena Baccarin and Morgan Saylor are the two original cast members that are now cut on the “Homeland” series from Showtime for next season” according to The Inquisitr on Dec. 15.
Saylor’s character Dana on the show has been under scrutiny since the series kicked off. She was given a more prominent role this season and became a “focal point of contention.” Brody, played by Damien Lewis, was out for a good chunk of the beginning of season 3, turning the focus to Brody’s family.
This is when Dana’s struggles and hard time with her father’s terrorist attack came into play. More than likely Baccarin’s waning appearances in season 3 were due to her being pregnant during filming, claims Fox News this weekend. Now she has a newborn baby at home and she’ll have plenty of time to spend with him.
“Homeland” has left the door open for both actresses to return as guest stars, much like how Diego Klattenhoff, who plays Mike, did this season. He made appearances on “Homeland” while filming “The Blacklist,” his NBC hit show.
Tonight fans of Morena Baccarin get their last chance to see her as a series regular in the finale of season 3. While not a regular, she still could come back in a guest spot stirring things up down the line for “Homeland.”.
“Homeland’s” season 3 finale is tonight at 9 p.m. ET on Showtime.
