As a follow up to the previous article, choosing the right veil for your face, this article gives other helpful tips on choosing a veil. It can become a complicated process in choosing a veil but it should be a simple and easy-going course of action instead. With advice on face shape and the material listed in this article, the Cleveland bride can find the perfect veil in the proper color, length and style.
Before choosing a veil, consider the face shape, as stated, in a previous article. The second step would be to consider the color of the veil. Choices could be in white, diamond white, ivory and champagne. Match the gown to the veil. One should never mismatch the colors. However, if the gown is unable to be determined in color, choose a veil that is a shade lighter than your gown, instead of a shade darker.
There are 3 lengths to a veil: elbow, fingertip and cathedral length. An elbow veil is the most popular for formal and semi-formal weddings. It is best with a dress without a train or a gown with a full skirt, highlighting gowns with detailing around the waist. A fingertip length veil is recommended with gowns that have a train. The fingertip gown gets its name because when worn, it falls near the length of one’s fingertips. This veil is also perfect for formal and semi-formal weddings. The last veil, the cathedral veil, is a floor length veil. It is suited best for formal weddings and with gowns that are cathedral length. If the bride is 5 foot 3 inches or shorter consider an elbow length veil but taller than 5 foot 7 inches consider a fingertip veil. A cathedral length veil can be worn at any height. All lengths vary in style and fabric choice, as well as detailing such as pearls, etc.
After determining the length, decide on a one tier or a double tier. A one tier veil look well with any dress where a double tier is best for semi-formal and formal weddings. A one tier does not have a blusher. A blusher is a shoulder length layer that is worn over the face, falling between the bust and neck. A blusher is lovely to soften one’s appearance. A one tier veil is nice for those that want to wear the veil in the back of the head. A double tier veil has a blusher and is fuller, be careful because sometimes a double tier veil can create too much drama to a gown.
Unless the bride’s religion requires a veil in tradition, a veil is therefore optional. With today’s fashion, a veil is mainly for a stylish statement. The veil depends on the gown and the look the bride wants to create.
