Florida tourism is on the increase. Governor Rick Scott reported that according to estimates released on May 15 by VISIT Florida, 26.7 million visitors came to Florida in the first quarter of 2014, an increase of 2.0 percent over the first quarter in 2013. Also, more Florida residents are working in the travel industry; 1,125,300 an increase of 3.5 percent, according to a May 15 statement by the Office of Governor Rick Scott.
“Fantastic. It is good that more people are coming to Florida to visit and maybe stay. We always want more people because they spend money and this means more jobs,” said Kevin Rincon, a restaurant server.
“I hope this trend continues. We need more visitors to Florida because they spend money,” said Andrea Fields.
