Aruba has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, without a doubt. But don't miss out on the other sights while you are there.
Aruba is located just 15 miles off the coast of Venezuela and is outside the hurricane belt. It has an average daily temperature of 82 degrees year around, making it a top vacation spot. It's a fairly small island, being on 70 square miles total and 19 1/2 miles long.
Along with the gorgeous white sand beaches, if you move inland you will find Arikok National Park . This arid, desert like area is filled with some of the most unusual rock formations you'll ever see along with a large variety of native cacti.
You'll also find a beautiful, historical church known as Alto Vista Chapel. The original church was completed in 1750 and restored in 1952. The ancient Spanish Cross on display inside the chapel is one of the oldest pieces of art in the Dutch Caribbean. You can't help but feel at peace when you visit this tiny chapel. The chapel is also available for destination weddings!
Don't miss California Lighthouse, located near Arashi Beach! It was named for the steamship California which wrecked just off the shore here on September 23rd, 1891. If you love lighthouses this one is a 'must see'.
On the opposite side of the island from those sugar white beaches, you'll find a rough, rocky coastline. The rock formations made by years of the sea crashing against them and the tradewinds, makes for a beautiful area. It's not recommended to swim here due to the fierce undertows in the area, but it presents a gorgeous photo op.
