More than 8,000 service workers hired during the winter season in Palm Beach

The unemployment rate in Palm Beach County is still around 12 percent, but there are opportunities for people in the service industry, especially during the winter season. More than 8,000 restaurant servers, cooks and other service personnel will be hired during the winter tourist season which run from November to March, according to an article by Marcia Heroux Pounds in the January 22 Sun Sentinel.

"This is good for people like me. I can make a good living in West Palm Beach as a server," said Colton Greene, who has worked various restaurant jobs.

"I am glad there are more opportunities for servers. This provides an addition to the money I earn as a teacher," said Marianne McConnell, a resident of Boynton Beach.
