Some folks believe reincarnation is a theory that not only includes people but also their pets. Even I have wondered if my little Shih Tzu here in Hamilton, Ontario was the reincarnated soul of pets that I previously loved. But for a Langley, B.C. resident this idea is much more than simply a theory when it comes to her beloved cats.
Krystal Lynn said she and Simba used to lie on pillows facing each other and then look deeply into each other’s eyes – something that Comet does too.
“I would send him telepathic thoughts and feelings of love and we would make a deep connection – soul to soul,” she said. “Today when I woke up, baby Comet was laying on the same spot and staring into my eyes just like Simba used to do. It was a very beautiful and intimate moment between us. I never did that with any cat besides Simba.”
She has also taken to playing with Simba’s favorite toys that the other cats ignore.
“I pulled them out last week and Comet went right for them. Her favorite is a round plastic ring with spaces in it where you put little (toy) mice and balls, and the cats reach in to get them out. She loves that and is very good at getting them out."
Another sign she has noticed is that Comet follows her everywhere, even the toilet and wants to be close to her.
“Simba used to sit on my lap when I was sitting on the toilet when he was young. When I went into the bedroom, she knew right away this was where she was sleeping and curled up beside my pillow."
She has also noticed that Comet stands up for herself against the other cats – a sign of Simba’s “warrior spirit.” As well, Krystael could not get Comet to drink water for a week. Then she saw one of the other cats drinking water that had Cellfood in it – something that contains oxygen, boosts a cat’s immune system and clears it of toxins. She drank this as Simba and loved it. Now she drinks it too.
One could easily say that all of these things are likely just coincidence. However, the most profound sign for Krystael is that Simba died on November 21, 2009 and Comet was born November 21, 2011, the same date Simba left but two years later.
“I had doubts at first that it was actually him come back,” she said. I was planning on calling him back after I moved but would never ask him to come back to the place where he was tormented by dark entities, which were responsible for his death."
Krystael said Simba died from a fatal disease that attacked his body causing lumps in his throat so he could not swallow food and began wasting away. She had to put him down.
“I was also confused that if he was coming back, why wouldn't he come in the body of a flame point Siamese, when that's what I was wanting and also the body of a female, when I wanted a male? Two females living in the same household is usually trouble."
When she consulted her spirits, she was told that the cat’s color/age/sex, etc. did not matter. It was what was inside that counted.
“Simba was meant to come back now and the body of the new kitten was available for him to come back to me.
I believe he came back earlier than planned because it was known to spirit that I was serious about leaving and so called my bluff when I said there was nothing they could give me to make me want to stay."
