Last week on Days, Rafe and Sami went to the Brady Pub and told Caroline about their engagement. Caroline was thrilled. Johnny came downstairs and Sami broke the news to him that she was going to marry Rafe. Johnny said that his daddy wouldn’t like it, but Sami said they didn’t need to worry about his daddy anymore. Sami said she loved Johnny and that she and Rafe would always be there for him. Johnny seemed hesitant, but Rafe gave him a reassuring hug.

Bo entered the pub looking solemn. He asked to speak to Sami and Rafe alone and told them EJ had been shot. Sami flashed back to shooting EJ the night before but acted shocked, saying she couldn’t believe EJ was dead. Confused, Bo said that he’d never said EJ was dead and that Carly and Daniel were operating on him. Sami said she’d just assumed he was. Bo asked Sami where she’d been the night before, causing her to get defensive and ask if Bo thought she shot him. When Bo left, Rafe comforted Sami. He said he’d help her break the news to the kids if EJ didn’t make it and offered to go to the hospital with her.

At the hospital, Carly and Daniel worked to stabilize EJ. Daniel removed the bullet and said the police would want to see it. Daniel told Stefano and Kate that EJ was alive but his wounds were very serious. Carly said that his vital signs were steadily improving. Rafe and Sami arrived and Stefano lashed out at Sami, accusing her of shooting him. Rafe said that Sami had been with him. Stefano remarked that it didn’t take Sami long to jump from guy to guy. Kate quietly told Sami that they needed to talk, but Sami said, “Not now, OK?” Meanwhile, EJ went into shock from his wounds and Lexi tearfully told Stefano that it was very serious. Stefano declared that they had his permission to do whatever it took to save EJ. Lexi admitted that it wasn’t up to him… it was up to Sami. When EJ got engaged to Sami, he filled out forms giving Sami permission to make all medical decisions for him. EJ was the only one who had the power to change his living will.

Sami admitted to Rafe that she felt sorry for EJ. Stefano overheard her and said that she wished EJ would die, insinuating that she’d shot him. Rafe told Stefano to back off. Sami went in to sit with EJ while Stefano and Rafe argued. Inside EJ’s hospital room, Sami asked herself what she’d done. As she talked to EJ, his eyes flew open. Sami called for Lexi, who ran into the room. When Lexi came out, Stefano asked if EJ would be all right. Lexi explained sadly that EJ had been opening his eyes out of reflex, not because he was waking up. Sami said she didn’t want to be the one to have to decide what to do about EJ. Kate whispered that she and Sami had to talk. When they were alone, Kate asked if Sami had shot EJ. Sami denied it and said that since Kate had told her that EJ was too drunk to do anything that night, she hadn’t had time to plan anything before EJ was shot. Kate believed her but asked that they keep her phone call to Sami private.

Abe told Stefano that the bullet from the gun that shot EJ had a silencer on it, indicating a professional hit. Stefano said they didn’t keep guns in the mansion because of the grandkids. When he and Kate got home, Stefano opened his desk drawer and discovered his gun was gone. He told Kate he knew that meant Sami had shot EJ because she’d lived there and knew where the gun was. As Stefano wondered why Sami had risked everything, Kate thought about her phone call to Sami. Meanwhile, Will showed up at the hospital. Sami tried to pretend one of the DiMeras’ enemies had shot EJ, but Will said he knew what Sami had done. He said he went to the mansion minutes after the police said EJ was shot and saw Sami leaving. As Sami tearfully tried to defend herself to Will, Rafe walked in and said it looked like EJ had been shot by a hit man.

Stephanie was determined to find out who switched Chloe’s paternity results. She went to the Cheatin’ Heart and was annoyed to see Nathan talking to Melanie while Phillip and Chloe sat at a table. Melanie sat next to Phillip and began discussing Chloe’s baby shower. As Stephanie eavesdropped, she heard Melanie joke around about Phillip’s disappearing act on Chloe’s birthday. When the girls left, Stephanie sat down and asked Phillip where he’d gone that day. Phillip told her he went to work for awhile and wanted to know why she was curious. Stephanie made some comments about Phillip and Chloe and how things must be awkward between them. Annoyed, Phillip said he was happy for Chloe and Daniel and left.

Stephanie immediately called Ian and said that if Phillip had changed the results, he’d done it from a computer at Titan. She called Phillip’s assistant Marie and got the IP address from Phillip’s computer. Stephanie told Ian to meet her at her apartment, where he told her that no one from Titan switched the results. Stephanie theorized that Chloe had done it herself or had asked a friend for help. Stephanie didn’t trust Chloe to keep the secret to herself. Ian said if she wanted to prove Chloe had done it, she’d need her IP address. Nathan arrived, obviously annoyed that Ian was there. When Ian left, Nathan told Stephanie it was obvious he had a crush on her. Stephanie admitted that he did but said nothing had ever happened between them or ever would.

Victor told Brady he was sending Vivian to Tahiti as things with the DiMeras had become strained. Brady offered to help, saying he hated EJ more than he liked his principles. When Brady left, Victor called Maggie and said that it was best she go on her trip because his enemies may go after people he cared about. He wished her well as Vivian eavesdropped. Vivian told Victor she knew what she was getting into when she married him and wanted to postpone her trip. Later, Vivian was delighted to find Phillip at the mansion. Phillip told Vivian to stay away from his wife. Vivian agreed, saying she was busy with Isabella’s internment anyway. Phillip wondered what her game was, saying she couldn’t fix a marriage made in hell by moving dead bodies around.

At the Brady Pub, Chloe discussed her shower details with Melanie and Carly. She said she was sorry to have gotten off on the wrong foot with both of them but was glad that was over. When Melanie left, Chloe and Carly continued to talk until Vivian interrupted them. Vivian wanted to know why they were suddenly “BFFs.” Carly said they’d bonded after she had tried to destroy them. After Chloe and Carly left, they walked along the pier and Chloe admitted to Carly that she’d tried to kill her. Shocked, Carly asked her to explain and Chloe told her the whole story. Carly forgave Chloe, reminding her that she’d saved her life and hadn’t been able to go through with it. She told Chloe to focus on her baby. Chloe went straight to the mausoleum and confronted Vivian. Vivian said that Carly couldn’t touch her. Carly leaned in, shoving Gus out of the way, and said, “Wanna bet?”
