Ahead of this week’s theatrical release of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, 4J Studios announced that the Xbox editions of Minecraft will be receiving a new DLC based upon the upcoming film and comics. Like many add-ons previously released for the popular block-building title, the Guardians of the Galaxy skin pack will give fans a variety of new avatar skins to use within the game. Providing players with a further look at the upcoming DLC, the official website for Xbox Live Arcade released a new batch of screenshots on July 28 to show off Minecraft’s new licensed skin pack.

Along with revealing additional images depicting the upcoming skins, a few new details for the add-on were also confirmed. The Guardians of the Galaxy skin pack will include a total of 24 new playable avatar characters that are all connected to the Marvel property. When the DLC was first announced, fans were only shown examples of for skins from the team’s core members including Star Lord, Rocket Raccoon, Groot, Gamora, and Drax. Rounding out the other 19 skins will include other figures from the comics such as Adam Warlock and even the villain Thanos.

While 4J Studios console ports of Minecraft appear on both Xbox and Playstation platforms alike, the Guardians of the Galaxy skin pack has only been confirmed for Microsoft systems at this point. The DLC will release on the Xbox 360 as well as the upcoming Xbox One version of the game. To this date, all previous Marvel based content for Minecraft has been Xbox exclusive which makes it unlikely that the Guardians of the Galaxy add-on will be heading to the PS3 and PS4.

There currently isn’t a release date attached to Minecraft’s Guardians of the Galaxy skin pack. The DLC will likely launch soon while interest in the Marvel franchise is high due to the movie’s upcoming release.
