The State of Florida reported an increase of 7,600 manufacturing jobs an increase of 2.4 percent from April 2013. About 25,600 work in manufacturing and the South Florida area has manufacturing in aircraft and aerospace parks, marine, medical devices, electronics, medical devices and other items, according to an article by Marcia Heroux Pounds in the June 8 Sun Sentinel.
Manufacturing jobs tend to pay better than service oriented jobs. And more high paying manufacturing jobs mean more money for people who work in other sectors of the economy.
"This is very goods. We need more high paying jobs in South Florida," said Mitch Weiss, a waiter.
"I hope we see even more manufacturing jobs because it means more opportunities for all of us," said Samantha Mongo.
