While the British invade the French and the Italians and Irish surrender, Sweden and Denmark blissfully thumb their noses at the rest of the world and go on about their business.
No, it's not a scenario for World War III. It's the latest skirmish in the Kate Middleton topless photo battle.
On Thursday, according to the AP, two more print magazines decided to publish many more of the alleged 240 pictures snapped of the Royal Couple while they relaxed at a French chateau earlier this month, unaware that paparazzi, armed with telephoto lenses, were filming their every move.
The result of course, is becoming known as Boobiegate, and while lawyers for Kate and William scramble to put out one fire, another erupts in flames in places they have no real authority.
The whole mess began last Friday when the French magazine Closer published photos of the Duchess of Cambridge sunbathing topless in a location she, allegedly, thought was safe from prying eyes and cameras. Bad move. The pictures were published in the print magazine and quickly caused a royal panic. And a worldwide sensation
Magazines in Italy and Ireland quickly followed suit, but it was when the NY based men's magazine Egotastic! posted the best shots on their website that the rest of the world got a good look at the royal bosom.
Most viewers actually yawned a bit and wondered, "what's the big deal?" But Kate.i.am were not amused.
Legal injunctions ensued and the French magazine is currently embroiled in a fight over whether they have to turn over the negatives and reveal the identity of the photographer or not.
The whole point seems to be moot as a magazine chain in Sweden, "Se och Hor" (See and Hear) and its sister publication in Denmark have decided to challenge international copyright laws by printing a 16 page spread.
Neither magazine intends to publish the photos online. But, it's just a matter of time until some media outlet gets a hold of the new topless photos and posts them to the web.
Stay tuned.
Meanwhile, Egotastic! seems to be staying above the fray. The uncensored Kate Middleton topless photos posted on their site are still up and can be viewed by clicking here.
What do you think? Should the royals just give in? Or are they fighting the good fight?
